The Academy is a key focus for Lear Training and is born from a desire to take the transferable skills from individual sports to benefit other sports.

We focus our research on the skills of each sport and how they can be transferred and development to benefit other sports, this method opposes traditional methods of focusing on the sport itself. The concepts are used at elite sports levels, specifically the southern hemisphere and enhance the skills of athletes, players and coaches and also go some-way to improving the sport itself.

Learners take part in structured training sessions to improve their own ability and team play, while focussing on a range of multi-skills and not the sport itself. This involves them learning how to break down skills and tactics that can be transferred across codes, understanding the principles of training, fitness and health, and lifestyle planning. You will also develop the skills and knowledge to analyse performance using video technology and hoe this can be used to improve both skills and tactical play.

The wide variety of sports sessions that learners are taught will help them learn how to develop multi skills sessions that enhances the all-round skills of players and athletes. The sessions focus on field based sports such as Football, GAA, Rugby, Hockey etc but are only restricted by your imagination on how skills can transfer across codes.

The Cross Code Academy teaches the theories of this concept but places an emphasis on practical sessions for field based players where athletics coaches develop running and sprinting techniques, judo instructors demonstrate roll techniques to get to your feet quicker, gymnastics coaches develop jumping techniques etc. Throughout all of the practical training we work as a group to discuss and explore how we can share our skills and techniques to improve our own performance and the sport that we love and play.

A unique feature of our Academy is that we can bring the Academy to you. Many young people are more comfortable in familiar environments and will progress much quicker in these surroundings. Providing you have suitable facilities available we can deliver our academy provisions in-house.
