
Lear Training offers vocational based training for young people aged 16 to 19 years old that is delivered under the banner of Podium Sports Education Prgramme. The learning programme provides funded training in partnership with other organisations at entry level, level 1 and level 2.
All learners following a funded programme will work towards qualifications in employability skills and personal effectiveness, and also work to gain qualifications in English, Maths and ITC. This element is optional for privately funded programs.
Overview
Many people are driven by their enthusiasm and passion for sports and dream of a career as either a professional athlete / player or a career in the sport and recreation industry. The Podium Sports programme is designed in way that encourages and support's aspirations and also ensure you achieve industry recognised qualifications that will enhance your career prospects.
The programme is designed to get those passionate about sport and recreation involved in education. They will develop the skills and knowledge required to embark on a sustainable career in the industry.
The Program
Podium Sports Education is an innovative education model of combining sports training and recreation activity into a vocational based qualification.
Program participants will complete our own Level 2 Performance Analysis Certificate as well as QCF accredited Vocational Qualifications in Assisting and leading in Health related Activity, while, at the same time linking a comprehensive range of extension activities that will introduce learners into club and community programs.
Learners completing a full program can gain a combination of experience and qualifications that dependant on levels required from initial assessment may include:
- QCF Level 1 Award in Assisting Health Related Activity Sessions
- Planning and Activity Session

- QCF Level 2 Award in Leading Health Related Activity Sessions

- Work Experience
Learners will gain experience in setting up and using performance analysis systems including a video based system, setting up and reading heart rate monitors, designing and delivering a range of sport and recreation activity sessions.
